What exactly does it take to become a sports legend? Talent, instinct, luck, being in the right place at the right time, and surrounding ourselves with the right people are all key, but Roger Federer also knew how to grab every opportunity with both hands, and this, perhaps more than anything else, was what helped him make it to the top of the tennis game. In his book The Master, American journalist Christopher Clarey, a tennis expert who has interviewed Federer several times over the years, tells the story of King Roger’s life and career, from his early days on court to his retirement. He describes Federer as an athlete who was able to turn his explosive energy, his love of tennis, his innate enthusiasm, and the closeness of his family into the drive he needed to achieve such incredible success.
