If we were to ask those around us what their main desire in life is, the majority of people would probably say that they want ‘to be happy’. Happiness is a feeling we all strive for, and we work hard every moment of our lives to achieve it. However, the reason most of us never succeed in feeling completely happy is because we mistakenly believe that we are working towards it, when in fact we are simply trapped in an illusion of moving towards better times, and better habits.
We often hear people say that, in order to be happy, we must find our true selves, but this is yet another misconception. What does ‘ourselves’ even mean? For example, some people may think that they are defined by the voice in their own head, or that they are simply someone they don’t really know yet. This is all untrue, because we do not have to look very far at all to find ourselves, and we should not allow our brain to deceive us. We have always been right here, regardless of our mind, our imaginary personality, or the chaos of the outside world. We are simply distracted by our external environment, and the fears that live in our head. In order to find ourselves, we must learn to face these feelings of anxiety and stress, and then let them go, freeing ourselves of the burden of negative experiences and energy, in order to finally gain clarity and awareness.
